There are three people arrested by the Rwanda National police for having fired into a crowd killing a security keeper and wounding another one, Monday last week. The suspects are Semakamba, Musafiri and Munyaneza.
They are accused to have forcefully withheld the motorbike of a certain motorcyclist who was operating in Kakiru, Gasabo district.
As neighbors intervened, the robbers shot dead a security keeper and wounded one of the other crowd members.
In front of reporters, Semakamba recognized his deeds and asked for mercy. He described the circumstances in which the killings happened.
He said that as they were trying to withhold the motorbike, a crowd intervened. One of them (suspects) shot in the crow, killing one and wounding another.
Semakamba revealed that he has been a soldier but the weapon used in shooting was bought to 200 000 Rwf to a Burundian living in Bugesera nearby the Rwanda- Burundi border.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Celestin Twahirwa testified that the arrested ones planned to steal that motorbike.
ACP Twahirwa told media that one of the suspects lost their mobile phone and this helped in investigative operations that led to their arrest.
The killed security keeper was named Ismael Bisengimana.
The one who were caught holding the gun were arrested in Rulindo nearby Nyirangarama commercial center.
At his side, ACP Twahirwa said that the Police do not have a criminal record of the arrested ones.
However, the fact that they were caught in planned actions to steal and kill shows that the suspects, once found guilty, are likely to endure a life sentence.
