After being shown the report on what the Senatorial committee on tourism and finance, some of the Senators who assessed it said that items displayed in a Presidential Museum located at Kanombe where former President Habyarimana lived should be reflecting the sad history that characterized his regime.

This position was defended by Senator Tite Rutaremara as he said that instead of showing his life as the Head of State, the museum should be reflecting the sad history that dominated his regime.

Senators who conducted the survey recorded images highlighting the massacres against Tutsi during the genocide.

Senator Chrysologue Karangwa said that these images are horrible and can revive people’s sad memories on the genocide itself.

Some of the senators have called for the closure of the Museum.

Other different museums that were inspected by senators include the one of the Kigali city’ Richard Kandt but some of the senators found that the museum is becoming more like a zoo than a museum itself.

They say that there are some venomous animals that are likely to be brought in the museum while it is meant to be a history sanctuary.

These animals include snakes and crocodiles.

For senators, the Museum should reflect the history of the first administrator of Rwanda, Richard Kandt instead of transforming it into a zoo.

One of the senators said that there should be a law reform to adjust and redefine the attributions of the museums.
