The Rwandan government via its Ministry of Infrastructures has signed an agreement with Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção África S.A, from Portugal as to allow this company construct the long awaited Bugesera International Airport. The project is worthy $ 418 million and is scheduled to be fully constructed not later than 2018.
The agreement embodies different closes such as the construction of the Airport and its management for 15 coming years.
Minister of Finance and economic plan Claver Gatete and the one of infrastructures namely James Musoni was standing for the Rwandan government.
They appreciated the agreement, thanking the Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção África for its commitment.
The Portuguese based company was urged to provide more efforts in making this project effective in the due time.
Min James Musoni said that this international airport will boost air transport and economy at large.
During relocation of the residents who were living in Mayange area, were numbered at 5 972 and most them are living in new houses.
The Manager of the Mota-Engel called Manuel Mota revealed that this is a huge project that Rwanda undertakes and will be facilitating cross Africa trade.
Mota said that Rwanda provides outstanding opportunities for business people from across the globe.
According to Rwandan authorities, the construction of the Bugesera International Airport has slowed down due to the lack of an effective investor in this regard.
It is believed that the construction process will resume June, next year.
