This YALI program aims at training African youth gifted in different areas so that they will become effective future African leaders.

Those six Rwandans namely Colombe Ituze, Doreen Karake, Gilbert Mucyo, Marcel Mutsindashyaka, Nadia Hitimana and Vincent Kalimba will take a plane this week-end to attend advanced lectures in the prestigious US universities as to increase and improve knowledge in their respective working fields.

The young Rwandans will undergo advanced courses in diverse fields including good governance, business management and self employment skills.

In Rwanda, 1000 people have applied for the Obama program but only six were chosen. The selected ones will meet  the US President Obama after the completion of their courses.

The US Ambassador Donald Koran reminded them that the courses will only be effective after being used for the interests of their motherland, Rwanda.

You make up a young, promising and trustworthy team that will foster the relations between USA and Rwanda in the near future, he said.

Ambassodor Koran said that the US will advise these young people after the courses as to back them in the application of the knowledge and skills acquired from the US universities.

The USA government has reserved a financial package of $ 5 000 000 to finance the business projects that will be set up by these 500 African young people, including the six Rwandans.

Kalimba Vincent who heads the Technoserve project has told to UM– USEKE his willingness to learn the skills and help the Rwandan youth think faster and smarter for self -employment and progress.

According to the schedule, 500 young people selected from across Africa will fly to the USA to undergo six-weeks intensive courses after which they will meet the US President Barack Obama in Washington DC.
