The National Youth Council, the Ministry of Youth and ICT held a commemoration activities to remember the youth killed in the genocide against the Tutsi. During this event the Rwandan youth vowed to use its abilities to help the government as to eradicate everything that is susceptible to make the Genocide happen again.
The youth representatives signed a paper testifying the promise held with the government officials during an event that took place at Kigali Memorial site at Gisozi.
In the night of remembrance, the message of hope and self reliance was delivered, accompanied by a play of the artist Garasiyani who highlighted historical chronology of the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial Rwanda which, at its most inner part, was characterized by genocide ideology.
The Permanent Secretary in the MYICT Rosemary Mbabazi said that this event is one of many others to be covered throughout a one month reserved for the youth to learn from each other and accomplish acts leading to self-reliance.
She urged the youth keep nurturing the patriotic spirit that will help them to resist to the misleading propaganda of people who have negative intentions towards Rwanda .
The Guest of Honor, Dr Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo the President of the Senate in his speech said that Rwanda is a secured nation that enables its citizens to remember their beloved ones who passed away in the 1994 Genocide.
He reminded the youth that the destiny of Rwanda is in its arms and should strive to uphold the values used during the liberation of Rwanda and never get involved in adventures that can harm their future .
