Minister of Labor Murekezi Anastase affirms that Rwandans still work few hours. He said that this is not productive for a population that does not use technological tools to ease working conditions and production.
He said that during the 11th National Dialogue Council when he was delivering a speech on the the economic situation basing on the labor and the private sectors to foster the economic growth.
For him, for Rwandans to develop they should be working 45 hours a week to increase the economic growth of the nation.
He said that in the countryside, people work 3 or 4 hours a day, something he finds very disadvantageous to the national economic growth.
Minister Murekezi urged the private operators to partner with young people to increase the spirit of self reliance through increasing the spirit of hardworking in their daily activities.
Minister reminded leaders from the local administration to back the young into creating new economic opportunities as to overcome poverty through hard working.
Throughout his speech, he said that since 2001 up to now labor related production has increased to 59%, adding that the government aims at doubling this production in the forthcoming years.
Minister said that for this to materialize, Rwandans should increase the number of their working hours and put more efforts into saving habits. He advocated for increasing number of the financial centers and services across the nation.
Minister Murekezi added that spirit of saving should be developed among children since their early childhood.
