Rwanda’s CPI up 4.5 pct year on year in December 2015

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen4.5 percent year on year inDecember 2015, down from4.8 percent in November 2015.
In December 2015,‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’,‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’and Transport rose by 9.7 percent, 2.9 percent and 2.4 percent respectively.
The data also show the “local goods” increased by 5.7 percent on annual change and decreased by 0.8 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 1.3 percent on annual basis and 0.3 percent on a monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 16.2 percent on annual change and decreased by 3.5 percent on a monthly basis.
