The Senatorial Commission in charge of diplomatic affairs told the Police that in Rwanda the crimes that more severe than related sanctions.
Moreover, the Commission affirmed that the national security is in good state. The IGP Emmanuel Gasana told the Commission that currently new crimes are raising especially the cross boarder crimes and cyber crimes.
According to the IGP Gasana the Policemen have to upgrade their knowledge in the matter as to effectively handle the situations.
IGP Gasana said that the most important task is to closely collaborate with the community to reduce and eradicate the crimes.
The Inspector Commissioner of Police, Gasana told the senatorial commission that some legal reforms should be revised as to equalize the crime committed with related sanctions.
Among other crimes, the IGP Gasana gave the examples of the drivers who cause chaos in the streets, sometimes causing the accidents.
He also gave the examples of the drug dealers/consumers. The National Police told the commission that it is currently fighting from the terrorist threat.
Senator Bizimana Jean Damascène said that the Commission has learnt the challenges the Police faces.
The Senators will travel in three districts to find out the progress and the effectiveness of community policing strategies in the efforts to reduce the criminal behaviors and deeds.
Senator Bizimana recognized the fact that the some crimes need increased sanctions. He said that such laws can be amended by concerned entities in order the resolve to the situation.
