This revealing statement was made by parents from Muhanga district gathered into group discussions engaged into how genocide related consequences from parents to children can reversed. Some of the parents said that the current social negative behaviors displayed by young people originate from their parents.
They said that the genocide against the Tutsis left long lasting psychosocial and physical wounds on young people.
The revelations were made after sampled research conducted in three sectors of Ruhango district namely Mushishiro, Cyeza and Shyogwe.
One of the locals named Madrida Manirarora stipulated that some of the Rwandan youth have relatively lost willingness to participate into governmental policy implementation due to what they (young people) experience on their respective families.
The most affected youth originate from families made up of genocide survivors and genocide convicted perpetrators.
The youth from those families generate suspicion among them and this has a negative outcome on how their social behaviors.
A social commission made up by those parents revealed that the above circumstances put young people in a position of pessimism for the future thus school drop outs, drug abuse and pre-mature and unprotected sexual intercourse.
The commission in charge of economic genocide related consequences found that the trauma discourages youth from undertaking profit making projects.
Discussions among different people’ based commission were under management of the Project ‘Umusingi w’Amahoro Arambye’ implemented by Duhumurizanye Iwacu i Rwanda, EAR Byumba Diocese and Prison Fellowship Rwanda.
