The World Bank reported that women are at the bottom of the list in economical growth and wellbeing .What is sad is that in some countries this situation is rooted and eased by legal frameworks under use. The study was released through images to Internet ,June 7th,2013
In a recent report of World Bank women are ranked as follow:
-Half of the World’ inhabitants are women (50%),
-Above 66% of workers in different professions in the World are women,
-Around 80% of services and goods consumers are women,
Despite these enchanting numbers, the reverse of the truth is worse.
-Less than 33% of world business owners are women,
-10% of income generating activities is owned by women worldwide.
-Most sadly 2% of world wealthy is women’s, the remaining is men’s.
The World Bank links this unbalance to cultural, legal and economic frameworks reigning in different countries
The report listed some key challenges that force women to live poorly despite statistics shown above
1. Legal framework:
According to the report ,77 countries in the world have laws that do not allow women to work in processing factories .Other 16 countries have law that allow women to work only if their husbands gave them permission to do so.
In other 44 countries women are not allowed to work in evening hours.
2. Economic hindrances
Economic barriers are numerous including lack of business start up capital, limited accessibility to Bank loan, limited education access and so on and so forth. All of these factors come to keep women under poverty.
3. The last but by no means the least: cultural related barriers:
In some countries as the World Bank continues, cultural discrimination plays a real role in the underestimating women and girls values.
This does not let women to receive educational package that will ultimately help them to live comfortably.
In Rwanda, different policies facilitate women to receive education and get involved in economic initiatives. However, there is a long journey towards women economic self -reliance.
