AFTER WATCHING his team lose 1-0 to Police FC in a friendly match on Monday, the Junior Wasps head coach, Richard Tardy, reckons they still have a lot of work to do ahead of CAF African U-20 Youth Championships first qualifying round due in April.
Midfielder Fabrice Twagizimana scored the lone goal of the match as the junior wasps struggled to find the net despite putting up a spirited performance.
“We have a lot of work to do to be ready for continental championships qualifiers. We need to prepare well because currently I think only 14 players (out of 24) are at the level we are looking at,” admitted French tactician.
He said his team seem to be effective in the midfield where he has formidable players in Robert Ndatimana (Rayon Sports), Muhamed Mushimiyimana (AS Kigali), Yannick Mukunzi (APR) and Hussein Cyiza (Mukura VS).
He, however, pointed out that his strikers lack sharpness which he largely attributed to their lack of enough playing time in their respective clubs.
Rwanda face South Sudan in the qualifying first round, with the first leg away.
Tardy’s team will be looking to qualify for the 2015 African U-20 Championships finals, which will be staged in Senegal.
