As Rwanda Revenue Authority holds a special day to appreciate how taxpayers contributed to the social and economic development of Rwanda, it reveals that taxes have much contributed to the national economic growth.
Statistics show that in fiscal year2012-2013, over 651 billion Frw taxes were collected while the national budget was estimated to 1550 billion Frw. This shows that taxes contributed to 42.1% of the whole budget.
In 2014-2015, not less than 859 billion Frw of taxes were gathered while the national budget was set to 1762 billion Frw. The amount of the taxes gathered made 48.7% of the whole estimated budget
The next year 2015/16, all taxes gathered were estimated to 986 billion Frw of taxes while the national budget was estimated to 1808 billion Frw.
This amount of taxes made 54.5% of the whole budget.
As we are closing this fiscal year 2016/17, the whole amount of taxes gathered is 1086 billion Frw while the national budget is estimated to 1854 billion Frw which means that the taxes will contribute to 56.6% of the whole budget.

As compared to the last year, taxes have increased in this ending fiscal year as it reached 10% of increase.
Taxes collected from districts didn’t reach 100 per cent as predicted.
Rwanda Revenue Authority predicts that during the coming fiscal year 2017-2018, it will collect at least 1200 billion Frw as the next fiscal year budget is estimated to be 2094 billion Frw.
This involves the fact the taxes will contribute to the budget at 57.3%
