The Rwanda Development Board has initiated a cross country tour labeled ‘Tembera u Rwanda’ aimed at mobilizing Rwandans to visit different touristic sites. Last Saturday it kicked off in Nyungwe National Park, a natural park full of fauna and flora related wonders.
These wonders involve monkeys, multicolored birds, towering trees, grasses, small rivers, among others.

The guides told our reporters that the Nile River has its smallest source in Nyungwe National Park.
Nyungwe National Park contains 13 species of primates, 300 species of birds, 38 of reptiles and over 1,068 kinds of trees.
Due to its mild climate, it is an ideal place for thinkers and over stressed ones who keenly search for a resting and isolated place.
Nyungwe National Park is 1,000 km2 wide and is geographically located besides five districts. It is shaped with pedestrians paths for people to do ‘a natural walk’.
These paths are nicknamed ‘Igishigishigi, Karamba, Muzimu, Ngabwe, Kamiranzovu, Bigugu, Isumo’, among others.
The whole natural walk can last for eight hours or above, depending on someone’s speed and endurance.
Nyungwe Natural Park is full of different trees such as Umugote, Umugozi, Umukipfu, Umwungo, Umushwati, among others that specialists categorize as medically useful.
One of the guides told Umuseke that aspiring visitors can admire the beauty of the forest especially during early morning hours.
Climbers are also welcome to enjoy the climbing of the Bigugu mount that is 2 950 meters high.
The natural forest has recently been more beautified with a canopy where visitors enjoy the over view of the whole forest.
According to one official the park received not less than 9000 visitors in 2015 and numbers are expected to increase as years go on.
The Canopy Walkway is 163 meters long and 80 meters high. This service is worthy 5000Frw for a Rwandan national.
Statistics show that the number of Rwandans who visit Nyungwe National Park increased with 30% in few years ago.
