The Global Gender Gap Report 2016 ranks Rwanda 5th nation in promoting gender

Through the Global Gender Gap Report, the World Economic Forum quantifies the magnitude of gender disparities and tracks their progress over time, with a specific focus on the relative gaps between women and men across four key areas: health, education, economy and politics. The 2016 Report covers 144 countries. More than a decade of data has revealed that progress is still too slow for realizing the full potential of one half of humanity within our lifetimes.

The report highlights that Rwanda is one fifth country worldwide where women can live comfortably and securely.

The Global Gender Gap Report targets on areas where governments invest more efforts as to make the living  conditions of the women easier and productive.

These areas include opportunities in participating in national building, inclusion in education, quality services in health and political involvement.

Regarding participation of women in national building, Rwanda is ranked eight at the global level with 80%

It has got 95% in female education promotion while in quality service delivery for women Rwanda has got 97%.

Based on its willingness in promoting women in political arenas, Rwanda ranks beyond 50% while all nations worldwide are under this statistics.

Rwanda is ranked number one in having more women in the parliament than any other country in the world with 30% of all MPs.

The report shows that only five nations have performed over 80% namely  Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, anad Rwanda.

The ten poorest performing nations in this regard are Lebanon , Ivory Coast, Morocco,Mali, Iran, Chad, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Pakistan and Yemen.
