The IBUKA, the umbrella of the genocide survivors organizations deplores the acquittal of the ex senior officers of in Ex FAR including Gen Augustin Ndindiliyimana, Major Francois Xavier Nzuwonemeye amd Cpt Innocendt Sagahutu an acquittal that has been decided by ICTR in Arusha
Prof Dusingizemungu Jean Pierre of Ibuka tols UM– USEKE that the Umbrella was not praised by the court decision to acquit the suspects while proofs are tangible to keep them into jail.
He said that the decision to acquit those senior officers comes during the time at which Rwandans are about the commemorate the genocide against the Tutsi does not promote to healing wounds of genocide that its survivors are still enduring.
Prof Dusingizemungu deplored the International community for its weakness about aborting the genocide againt the Tutsi while it has all means possible to do so.
He expressed him indignation on the fact that the international community keeps talking about the respect of the human rights but keeps refusing justice to the survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
He advised the international community to stop its denial of justice to Rwanda especially in the coming cases regarding genocide suspects.
Prof Dusingizemungu finds unbelievable that a former chief of staff( in gendermerie) can be found innocent for genocide involvement while everyone knows the role of army in executing the genocide.
For him the consequences of a decision like this does not only concern survivors but all Rwandans thus a common fight against this kind of decisions is necessary.
Alain Mukurarinda, the Spokesperson of the National Persecution Authority told UM– USEKE that the institution he represents can not express itself about the decision before reading the whole document.
