According to the recent statistics, the number of the refugees  hosted in the camp nears 15000 thousands.

The houses they live don’t have roofs and it is a crucial problem  to the safety. Bahirike Elia, an elderly man living in the camp told UM– USEKE that he left a flock of cows made up by 50 cows.

He lauded the Rwandan government for its supports towards them and encouraged his fellow to work hard as to become more economically fit.

As Rwanda has a small land to cultivate, he says that the Congolese government should search for ways and means to help them repatriate them in their native land.

The representative of the refugees Mugiraneza Theoneste said their country, DRC did not display any willingness to repatriate them.He added that some of the DRC officials who visit them in the refugee camps they did it not as an official visit but as they did it as their own travels.

One of the most serious challenges the refugees are facing include difficulties relating to finding  regular and clean food and drinks.

Some   of  the refugees told UM– USEKE  that since 18 years ago they have received maize crops to cook but finding wood fire was and still is a serious issue.

But Rwandan government has decided to give provide them with 6500 Rwandan francs per month as to help them buy necessities for their living conditions.

Refugees will receive this amount of money via Mvisa.

According to the MIDMAR representative in the camp, challenges facing the refugees include a lack of permanent and clear water in the camp. They also need  well designed electric power installation to enlighten the camp.
