Remera – Around 18 women have created a cooperative which aimed at helping them to increase their earnings through selling their items in Gisimenti locality. They previously were street vendors who sold crops, fruits and clothes in different corners of Kigali.
For them to be successful in this new journey towards success, those mothers created a cooperative called Tuzamurane 2020 in which only ten among 18 members have been able to operate and prosper.
For them, this meant the real liberation and self reliance. Anyone willing to become a share holder is entitled to pay amount of 200,000 Rwf.
This cooperative has rent a building in the Gisimenti square where the members operate and earn money.
One of the leading members of the cooperative called Bernadette Nyirabagenzi said that in 2009 the living conditions were difficult and unfavorable but their lives have improved at a remarkable extent.
Through this new living conditions, the Tuzamurane members have been able to feed their families, save money for the future and care for the children.
Other mothers who observed the Tuzamurane 2020 are keen to implement the same strategies and increase their earnings too.
