This Saturday a medical staff from UK and Germany arrived at Kigali International Airport having an aim of curing different diseases that Rwandans have been suffering of and to train Rwandan medical staff in their respective fields.
On Sunday, the medical staff from UK and Germany composed of 35 people was dispatched in different Rwandan hospitals where they will be operating and were sent alongside the medical instruments to use.
This is the fifth time they come to Rwanda as they started in 2012.
Dr Ralph Lorenz from Berlin, Germany told Umuseke that the activities they carry on intend to help Rwandans get cured from complications such as skin burns, intestines complications among others hardly curable illnesses.
He said that they do this free of charge from the beneficiaries and that this well hearted initiative will continue.
He thanked the Rwandan government for its support through the Ministry of health, a support that involves free transportation and accommodation facilities.
Another medical doctor named Dra revealed that during one week of intensive medical performance they hope to be able to treat many illnesses as possible using their skills and tools brought from both UK and Germany.
A Rwandan national based in UK Pastor Osée Ntavuka who heads the Rwanda Legacy of Hope Initiative that coordinates these activities informed Umuseke that this gesture is of a paramount usefulness to Rwandans and is bound to both health and to education.
He underlined the fact that this initiative helps Rwanda as the tools used in the activities are left to respective health centers and hospitals when the medical staff from UK and Germany closes up their activities.
This equips the concerned health centers to acquire important tools for a day-to-day use.
Pastor Osée Ntavuka affirmed that the value of all the tools to use in the operations is estimate to 85 million Rwandan francs from which tools worthy of 50 million Rwf will be provided to Rwamagana hospital where a training center for Rwandan medical staff will be based.
The rest of tools will be sent to other medical centers such as Kigeme, Nyamata and Kigali University Hospital commonly known as CHUK.
For five years that the UK and Germany medical practitioners came to Rwanda, they have been able to effectively treat not less than 350 people through surgery and other medical treatment depending on the cases on ground.
They plan to treat about 560 Rwandans in seven years. During this one week, the staff plans to use surgery and treat fifth people a day.
They will be using a plastic surgery and other techniques depending on the case to deal with.
Since the starting of the activities, all the operations are worthy of 2. 8 billion Rwandan francs and the Rwanda Legacy of Hope assists 300 families based in Kamonyi district, South Province in paying medical insurance commonly known as Mutuelle de Santé.
