The First One Dollar Campaign building located in Gasabo District, Kagugu Sector has been completed and its keys were handed to the Genocide survivors students association AERG that is in charge of selecting worthy to own the houses in the building.
This is Phase One among the three ones to be built in the coming days. This building has four floors with an office to each floor.
192 homeless children selected from all the AERG university and secondary branches will be hosted in these buildings.
The idea of setting up such building erupted in 2009 to collect dollars from well wishers people but the project has delayed due to the lack of enough money to start it.
Selected shelter less students will start living in the buildings after needed tools will be set in the rooms.
The Phase one is completed after all concerned organisations and well wishers have contributed to over one Billion Rwf .
The Murenzi Supply Company is the construction company that has built this building.
According to the AERG head office, the tender to provide needed tools such as tables, beds…has been released.
The association promises that not later than this July-October, all the 192 selected youth will be relocated into this building before launching the next phase.
The next construction phase will start soon and it will be hosting 600 houses to be built in the coming days.
The Third Phase will comprise the construction of different facilities including playgrounds, theater and music halls, all aiming at beautifying the living conditions of the young Genocide survivors.
AERG commended all of its partners to have completed his effective building that will positively change the lives of the genocide survivors.
