That place is located in the Easten Province, Kayonza District, Rukara sector, Rwimishinya cell. The area has was named in 10 past years.The locals practice different activities such trading and susbstance agriculture of banana plantattions.
Some of the elders in the area revealed to UM– USEKE reporter the origin of the name Nairobi. The name originated from the quick social and economic development of the area.
One of the elders who grown up in the area, Faustin Kamuhanda an 61 years old told us that in ten past years, the area was a haven for stone polishing activities. These stones were packaged to in lorries that brought them to different building constructions sites.
He said that this provided them with money people needed to start their own businesses and positively change their livelihoods.”
This so called Nairobi of is far different from the one of Kenya as the late is a capital of a nation that is hugely developed while the former is a countryside area that has been recently changed the image.
One of its dwellers said: ” Here we are food secured. We eat, drink and work”
Most of the locals have paid the medical insurance commonly known as the Mutuelle de Sante, and almost every child has started schooling.
The pace of its economic development has slow down but locals are keen and optimistic to push their daily activities forward and reach the level of living they deserve.
For them the sky is the limit and it is never too late to develop.
