There will be no more old school buildings in 2018- MINEDUC

After having carried out a careful census of all school buildings in Rwanda, the Ministry of education authorities vow to rehabilitate the ones found old or build new ones so that in 2018 there will be no more old school buildings in Rwanda. The Permenant Secretary in the Ministry of education Dr Celestin Ntivuguruzwa has informed that this initiative will increase teaching and learning’ effectiveness.

Currently some countryside schools have got old at an extent that they seem to be collapsing soon if nothing is done to rehabilitate or build new ones.

There are also many others located in remote areas that require learners to travel long  distances to attend studies.

Dr Célestin Ntivuguruzwa affirms that the Ministry of education has plans to remove these hindrances to effective education and allow Rwandan students to study in decent places and in praising circumstances.

The Rwandan government is committed to enhance the quality of education through setting new or innovated classrooms countrywide, Dr Ntivuguruzwa affirms.

Dr Ntivuguruzwa, who has been an educator at the former Kigali Institute of Education, revealed that currently Rwanda faces an remarkable demographic growth that calls for an increase of schools as three million of Rwandans are children in primary and secondary education levels.

According to him, the Ministry of education set up an program of censuring all the school buildings all over the nation as to find these ones to be rehabilitated as well as the ones to demolish and replace with the new ones.

The rehabilitation and building of the new ones will follow after setting up related budget for 2017-2018.
