In an exclusive interview with The New Times newspaper this morning, Cycling Federation President Aimable Bayingana announced that Rwanda’s Olympic Road Race spot will be given to Adrien Niyonshuti, our most successful and high profile rider to date.
In what could be called a “reverse-Sagan”, this will be Adrien’s second Olympic appearance as he proudly represented Rwanda in the Mountain Bike race at London 2012.
This is the first time Rwanda has qualified for the Road Race so for the first time there will be two Rwandan cyclists at the Rio Olympics as fellow Team Rwanda founder rider Nathan Byukusenge qualified earlier this year to race the Mountain Bike race.
