The UN Women organisation is soon launch a song writing competition on the fight against the women domestic violence and related crimes. The competition aims at increasing the awareness on the crimes against women and the willingness to take relevant measures to eradicate these crimes in the near future.
All Rwandan music writers are invited to compete and write down educative and informative songs on the violence against women.
The awards include money for the best song writers and singers . The amount is still unknown but it can be an opportunity for the up raising artists who are talented but financially weak.
The competition is under the supervision of the UN Women, Kigali City and different women’s rights organisations in Rwanda, The theme of the competition is labeled ‘Sing Yes’.
Artists are required to be in between 15 and 30 years old, being a Rwandan citizen, being able to both write and sing in Kinyarwanda language, and creating his own song.
The competition is scheduled to start on June, 25 as the artists will be presenting their art creations. On November, 25, the best song writers and singers will be awarded after a concert that will take place at Amahoro National Stadium located in at Remera.
The ones willing to participate into the competition are urged to bring their art creations at UN Women Rwanda headquarters located at Kacyiru. They can also find more information and details at benon.kabera@unwomen.org
