Unity Club is to hold on Friday its 11th annual General Assembly which will, among other issues, reflect on the journey of Ndi Umunyarwanda Programme and how it can be further enhanced in the society especially among the youth.
It will discuss how Ndi Umunyarwanda programme can sustain its three pillars of feeling the Rwandan spirit, upholding Rwandan values as well as detesting all taboos, according to the press released from the Unity Club.
The General Assembly is organised in partnership with the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) under the theme: “Ndi Umunyarwanda: The pillar towards Building Peace in the Society.”
Officials said the theme reflects on the deliberations of the previous assembly.
The General Assembly will bring together top government officials, district officials and the civil Society, Protectors of friendship pact “Abarinzi b’Igihango as well as youth representative according to the statement.
The youth representatives have been specifically invited to engage with government officials on how they can uphold Ndi Umunyarwanda.
Four protectors of friendship pact will be recognised for their resilience to fight for unity and reconciliation.
Formed in 1996, Unity Club is an association of current and former cabinet ministers and their spouses.
It has been instrumental in promoting social cohesion and contributing to the country’s sustainable socio-economic development.
Some of Unity Club achievements
Over the past 22 years since its foundation, Unity Club has constructed six hostels for childless Genocide widows (Incike) across the country.
It has also constructed 20 houses in Rubavu district which were given to orphans who formerly lived at Orphelinat Noel de Nyundo orphanage.
Fifty Genocide widows will in December get another hostel in Rusizi district, according to the statement.
