This can be done through what is called forensic DNA testing that aims at solving crimes and is useful in law enforcement and achieving true justice.

Prof Klaus Puschel from the University of Hambourg affirms that expertise from his university is useful to Rwandan researchers in preserving genocide artifacts resting in different memorial sites such as Murambi and Ntarama sites.

The forensic medicine and research in the field enables professionals to practice the carrier with adequate skills, Prof Klaus reminded.

He appreciated the efforts of Rwandan government through its Commission for the Fight against the Genocide (CNLG) to safeguard the bodies of the genocide victims and other physical artifacts.

He, however, said more knowledge and tools are needed to maximize its effectiveness, adding that his nation (Germany) is willing and able to back Rwanda in this regard.

Dr Charles Muligande from the University of Rwanda commended the partnership between both universities, adding that it highlights the progress of knowledge that Rwandan education is entitled to fully achieve.

The five day workshop features students from the University of Rwanda, college of medicine, Rwanda National Police Academy and representatives from the University of Hambourg and the ones from the National Commission for the Fight against the Genocide (CNLG).
