Volleyball: UTB and RRA are the winners of the Cup in remembrance of Rutsindura

 

The Volleyball championship held in Huye district, South Province took place as to remember Alphonse Rutsindura the former coach of the Volleyball national team. The male team that won the final match was from UTB while the one of female was from RRA.

The championship was prepared by the  Petit Séminaire Virgo Fidelis  from Karubanda  where late Rutsindura was lecturing and conducted his coaching activities of the national team.

Late Rutsindura was massacred during the genocide against the Tutsis in 1994.

The championship was attended by 11 male teams that  follow:

 KVC, IPRC South, IPRC East, UTB (the former RTUC), Relax VC, UR (Huye), Tout Age (Huye), Umucyo (Huye), Mamba1/Mamba2 (Kigali) APSVF( those ones being the former students of Petit Seminaire Virgo Fidelis)

Four female teams that participated included: Ruhango VC, APR VC, RRA (Rwanda Revenue Authority), and Tout-Age ( from Huye).

There were also four secondary schools namely  Groupe Scolaire officiel de Butare Indatwa, Lycee de Nyanza, Christ Roi and G.S. Philippe Neri (from Gisagara)

At the final match the UTB won over APSVF with 3-2 sets while the female RRA team won with 3-1 sets.

The Groupe scolaire officiel de Butare Indatwa defeated the  Lycee de Nyanza with 3-2 sets.

The first team was handed with 200,000 Rwf as a reward, the second took 150,000 Rwf while the third had 100,000 Rwf.
