The Vocational Teaching Center (VTC) located in Rubona sector, in Rwamagana district trains young people in vocational activities including carpentry, modern cooking methods, among others. But its teaching methods are said to be less fruitful.
However, the Eastern province governor Odette Uwamariya has criticized its teaching methods and how learners are performing.
She expressed her views as she was officially inaugurating it few days ago.
As she was inaugurating it, governor Uwamariya asked the students to showcase their skills in different fields but they failed to make it in a clear and significant way.
Governor Uwamariya blamed the teachers as they spent two months teaching those things they don’t understand currently.
Locals who have been interacting with students expressed their disappointment as students who claim to have graduated from the VTC are unable to perform elementary tasks relative to so called professional fields.
Governor Uwamariya firmly urged the school officials to be serious and provide needed knowledge that is meant to improve their students’ skills and help them achieve in the future.
She reminded them that the government has set up these centers in order to help Rwandan youth acquire vocational skills to use in their future.
Governor Uwamaliya advised school girls to be more versed in their learning material and strive to earn more knowledge in the fields of interest.
