The Rwandan Minister in charge of refugee affairs and disaster management Seraphine Mukantabana told participants in a consultative meeting held in Kigali that Rwandan government keeps its word about re-locating Burundian refugees to a third country.
The today’s meeting aimed at assessing challenges refugees are facing in Rwanda including Burundians and DR Congolese.
The focus was put into the Burundian refugees who are meant to be relocated in an other country.
The meeting that was chaired by the UNHCR High Commissioner at world level learns more about the challenges all refugees in Rwanda are facing and how effective they can be handled.
One of the issues debated upon is the re-location of the Burundian refugees in another unidentified country as to avoid the proximity of the refugees with the country they fled from.
Min Mukantabana told the participants that the resolution to relocate Burundian refugees in another country is unshakable, adding that the UNHCR has been informed about it since its inception.
She thereafter reaffirmed that its execution will be materialized as it is a cabinet resolution that has to be implemented.
Currently Rwanda hosts not less than 80 000 Burundian refugees to be relocated in a country that will be identified later on.
