Young people across Rwanda gathered in Gashora District,Eastern Province, to debate on a subject relating to Tutsi,Hutu or Twa,the so called ethnic groups.
The campaign is called Youth Connect Dialogue nicknamed NDI UMUNYARWA(I am Rwandan) whereby journalists and artists debate on different issues relative to Rwandan sad recent history inside which ethnic groups were the milestone.
Youth present at the gathering said it was ignorant on the philosophy behind ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’progam but after clarifications on the issue; the youth said it is ready to provide more efforts to make it clearer to the public.
Minister Jean Philibert Nsengiyumva,in charge of Youth and Technology,reminded to youth that it has the duty to promote good neighborhood and brotherhood among Rwandans.
From the beginning the debate was hotter at an extent that it was very difficult to predict how it will end but as the debate went hotter ,people presented their views on the issues and the ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda Philosophy’ started to be clear .
Pastor Rutayisire related his personal experience relating to his life.This touched people hearts as he explained his own experience.
For Paster Rutayisire,ethnic based crisis is a issue that requires careful understanding and treatment. ‘People should emerge from this and build a bright future’said Pastor Rutayisire Paul.
MINADEF Chief General James Kabarebe ,throughout his lecture called “Ibigeragezo byatumye tubohoka: Tribulations have brought more will be free” .
He told the youth that before he engaged in RFA,he went through a military training that was cruel. He was fired at in that training.Later on as he said he was forced to fight with a lion and defeat it .All of these have shown him that perseverance is the key to success.
For him Hutu and Tutsi are part of our history that needs to be debated upon in order to remove them from our minds and build a lasting society.
“Apology does not only concern citizens living in the countryside,.It also concerns leaders of these people” said Gen Kabarebe.
Prof Shyaka Anastase the Manager of RGB underlined the fact Rwandan brotherhood is the most important than building it upon Hutu,Tutsi and Twa ethnic groups.
The meeting ended with a an agreement that the Rwandafulness should be promoted rather than promoting the so-called Tutsi ,Hutu and Twa ethnic groups.
