The CEO of the RDB, Ambassador Valentine Rugwabiza said that Rwandans should join efforts and build their nation that has been teared up by the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. She condemned people who betray Rwanda due to greedy motivations .
She said that when she was addressing the 1994 genocide survivors gathered at Nyanza Memorial site during a commemoration event into which the RDB staff participated.
Ambassador Valentine Rugwabiza said that the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi destroyed human and cultural values among Rwandans, adding that government is re-constructing these values for a brighter future.
Ambassador Rugwabiza said that commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi aims at dignifying the innocent Tutsi who lost their lives in 1994.
Concerning the ones who betray Rwanda and who aim at destroying the national achievements she said that those ones are motivated by greed rather than forgetting their past experiences, she said.
Witnesses who survived the killings at Nyanza said that they were brought to Nyanza by Interahamwe and many of them were killed at the time when the UN forces left them unprotected.
Among 3000 of people who were brought to Nyanza, only 100 people survived.
Amb Rugwabiza urged Rwandans to join efforts as to build their nation together and hinder anyone willing from destabilizing the national security from materializing his/her wrong thoughts.
