This was one of the decisions taken by 40 Rwandan female journalists yesterday as they completed a four days intensive training aimed at increasing their skills and professionalism.
The training was delivered in the conference room of the Hotel La Palme in Musanze district and was delivered by the most experienced journalist both males and females.
The participants came from different media houses operating in Rwanda. This came in as it is embedded into the action plan of the Media High Council and the UNDP both willing to enhance the collaboration and gender balance in the journalism profession. The participants were shown issues that hinder women from being devoted entrepreneurs in the fields of the journalism.
All the attendants agreed that this might change and they came up with firm decisions to start businesses in the field pertaining to journalism.
One of the key tools that will help in the fulfillment of such ventures includes the cooperation and communication.
The Executive secretary of the MHC Peacemaker Mbungiramihigo reminded the audience that cooperation between them will boost their businesses.
He thanked the participants for their hardworking and friendly relations displayed throughout the four days long training.
As the participants were concluding the training, they voted an association entrusted to choose a promising business idea and detail it within coming two months.
This association called the “Women” in Media Prate form will be led by Regine Akarikumutima. She promised her fellow ones a close partnership and collaboration as to achieve the aims and goals of the ‘association’.
